On 15 january 2015, the Year of Space was opened in the iconic Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. The evening of presentations and debates kicked off with a film introducing the theme.

The movie reflects on the past 25 years of environmental planning. It zooms in on the specific Dutch urban planning phenomenon of 'vinex' areas and offers fantasies about what environmental planning might look like in the future.

On the day, Melanie Schultz, Neelie Kroes, Hans Alders, Maarten Hajer, Henk Ovink, Manon Janssen en Saskia Beer were present, opening the floor for a wide debate on space and how we can use it.
